The Socio-analytic Study Group has developed from Work in Progress WIP Group that has met for 30 years. WIP was for specifically for qualified and experienced practitioners in organizational consultancy, team and organizational development and related fields. The WIP Group concluded in February 2022, and I want to personally acknowledge all those involved in WIP over the 30 years and while the SSG is different in purpose broadly speaking in remains in the tradition of the Tavistock Institute and established in Australia through the now defunct Australian Institute of Social Analysis
The Socio-analytic Study Group is a space for learning, growth, and development in the areas of work and leadership in what might broadly called human services.
Specifically working with teams and groups in the areas of supervision, therapy, training, teaching-learning.
Consultancy to teams, departments, or whole organisations in terms of purpose, structure, culture, and specific roles making use of techniques broadly associated with the Tavistock Institute in London and similar institutes both overseas and in Australia. Locally Group Relations Australia and the National Institute of Organisational Development with a linage from now defunct Australian Institute of Social-Analysis specifically exercises which involve experiential learning through a variety of processes including, but not restricted to Group Relations Conference, Listening Posts, Dream Matrix, Role Analysis, Action-Research
Drawing on, but not restricted to, the following disciplines the SSG with explore topics that address the dynamic relationship of Individual, role and systems in a broad sense of system.
Following the timetable of WIP we have the use of this space on the third Monday of each month from 6.30 pm to 8.00 pm.
The purpose of the SSG is as a members based not-for-profit structured peer support and learning group. In terms of dealing with the Inner West Council and Public Liability Insurance the SSG is a project of Working Together Consultancy.
John Collins is to act in the role of convenor. The role includes the following tasks. Communication to members. Facilitation of particular presentations (topic area).
Debra Snoddy is the treasurer/secretary. The role of the treasurer/secretary is to ensure that the Council is paid each month that we meet and is the first contact person for the Inner West Council
Under current arrangement with the Inner West Council there is a Membership fee
The Treasurer is to distribute the balance sheet at the November meeting.
One topic is presented per session
A chair- timekeeper is appointed by the presenter for each session
